Basic Information Related to Pneumatic Cylinders

PNEUMATICS

Is the field of application for the movement and control of systems operating by gas pressure.
(is used with air air transmission medium.)

Pressurized air is one of the first energy types used by mankind.
In practice the systems working with vacuum and positive air pressure and circuit elements used are considered within the scope of pneumatics. The oldest applicaiton known is the air bellows used around 2500 B.C. Compressed air has been used in the recent times in the mining and metallurgy sectors.

   Pneumatic control circuits which f5ormerly consisted of very simple and few components now provide the composition of tens of elements and used in almost all industrial applications integrated with other modern control systems. The frequent use of pneumatic systems in industrial applications is directly related to the characteristics of Pneumatic operation and control elements as well as the positive characteristics of compressed air used as the energy source.

 The basic characteristics of compressed air can be listed as follows:
    - Air is present in the atmosphere surrounding us as an unlimited resource. Because the pressure of the air used does not exceed 10 bar except in very special applications, the internal structures of the components used are simple.
    - It is possible to control the pressure and speed of pneumatic systems without staging.
   - However, due to the compressibility of air, in situations where  going down to very low speeds and sensitive speed and position settings are needed using some special components and control systems are needed.
    -
Pneumatic systems are self protected. The components stop in excess load and operate again only when the load is reduced.
    - Pneumatic components which have many advantages, are widely used in today's modern control systems.

   Especially, thanks to the developments in the electro-pneumatics field, it is possible to see Pneumatic components in all industrial applications where motion and control systems are used.

    Where do the Pneumatic systems used?

   In various fields such as press applications, medicine sector, from mining to assembly lines, from the iron&steel industry to low pressure logic circuits Pneumatic components of various types and sizes are used. In general terms, in almost all industrial applications pneumatic components and systems are used. By the use of  Pneumatics, linear motion requiring  approximately 6 bar pressure and 0-3000 kg force, 0-360º rotations and indexing processes and circular motion providing 0 -100 KW power are possible.

  Pneumatics is also used widely in automation applications besides the  force and motion systems. Pneumatics is preferred primarily where the requirements are fast motions, small obtained forces and clean and safe operation conditions .

Before Use

- Before using your piston read the use instructions carefully.
- Do not keep or use the piston near combustible of flammable materials.
- Do not use your piston outdoors, protect from rain and snow. Water damages the structure of the material inside and may cause rusting.
- Do not keep your piston near a machine of resistor with excessive temperature.
- The nitril sealing elements in the internal structure are recommended to be used between  -30 OC , + 105 OC . Short duration operation is possible to up to +120 OC. Otherwise the nitril sealing elements are burned.
- If there is heat near during the operation the manufacturer is reminded of this fact before ordering and heat resistant viton sealing elements are used.
-
Use Viton felt at  -30OC to + 225OC .
-
Do not keep or use the piston in dirty, rusty and moist places.
- Do not use any metal tools or equipment to clean the piston.
- Strictly avoid cleaning with chemicals. Otherwise, the internal structure, shaft and sealing elements are damaged.
- Strictly avoid immersing the piston in water before cleaning or storing. You can wipe the piston with a dry or moist cloth.
- Do not use spare parts not recommended by the manufacturer. This may result in breakdowns or damage to the internal structure of the material.
- Do not drop the piston during moving or transportation and avoid rough blows. Do not put unnecessary materials in front during operation.
- The conditioner on the installation before the Piston and Valve group should be maximum at a 6 meter distance. Otherwise your piston and valve operate without oil (lubricant).
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure on the hydraulic power unit.
- The bearing of the piston should be conducted based on its diameter. Do not carry additional bearing load.

Operation

    - Before Operation;
      Check for assembly or transportation faults on the piston.
    - Operation;
In the initial operation of your piston, operate first under low pressure with the control valve.
Increase the system to operation pressure later.

Standard cylinders of up to 350 bar can be manufactured upon special request.

-
Before Operation;
      Check for assembly or transportation faults on the piston.

      Check your air installation, valve, hose and couplings ant then operate the piston.
     -
Operation;

  Operate the piston with the air installation open and and under valve control.

Important Use Errors

- Do not operate above the bar figure set in the conditioner.
      - Do not operate without a conditioner.
      - Do not operate without a dryer.

Operation of Pneumatic Cylinder

-
The coupler is attached to the front and rear inputs of the cylinder (the coupler is to fit the piston input thread on one side and the required air hose on the other side).
    -
The 6 bar pressure coming from the air compressing installation comes to the piston under valve control at connection point 1 or 2 (input).  The forward and backward motion of the shaft inside provides the required operation from these points to another point by the aid of the valve.

 Requirements of the operation environment

- The air should be without moisture. (this is achieved by the dryer filter system) in case there is moisture in the air after a certain period of operation corrosion starts in the pipe and chromium shaft. Due to corrosion the operation performance of the piston declines and after a time air leaks start in the piston.

    - The other materials needed for a healthy piston operation are the conditioner and the regulator. The conditioner enables the transfer of oil (lubricant) to the system and prevents the wearing of the felts in the system ( in the valve and the piston) and that they do not operate without oil (lubricant).
